The conference theme is “International Law Futures: The Intersection of Law with Knowledge, Information and Expertise.”
International law increasingly faces a complex future. New challenges are constantly arising for the international community, often driven by technological developments. At the same time, existing challenges continue but manifest in new ways. Key to how future international law and international lawyers will manage novel challenges, or new iterations of old ones, is the field’s intersection with knowledge, information and expertise. Whose information, knowledge or expertise is considered, how these sources are gathered and evaluated, and what mechanisms are used for dealing with information deficits and uncertainty are questions of growing importance for international law in managing possible futures. The 27th Annual Conference is an opportunity to explore these questions as they arise across a range of international legal contexts, addressing issues such as:

Kirby Lecture in International Law
The annual Kirby Lecture in International Law will be hosted by the ANU Centre for International and Public Law on the evening of Thursday 4th July 2019. Sir Kenneth Keith ONZ KBE QC will be delivering this year's lecture.
Conference Dinner
The Conference dinner will include a three-course meal and drinks package at the National Museum of Australia. Tickets for the dinner can be purchased during conference registration. Tickets must be purchased by 27th June 2019.
An AU$50 administrative fee applies to all registration cancellations. A registrant must provide the registration confirmation details (including the email address used to pay via paypal) when submitting a written cancellation request to anzsil@anu.edu.au
Cancellation requests will NOT be taken over the telephone.
Refunds will not be issued on cancellations received after 20 June 2019.
Conference no-shows are ineligible for a refund.
Cancelling a hotel reservation will not affect a conference registration. Please contact your hotel separately.
